“MUNA” was inspired by my grandmother’s nickname “Moena”, short for Mymoena. The name itself is also a gender-neutral name of Arabic origin which means “wishes and desires”. My mama was in the sewing and alterations field all her life. She worked in factories making hand leather bags and later on in her years, started doing bridal alterations for wedding gowns. Sposabella, a bridal boutique, was the company she worked at for many years. They were situated in Stuttafords in the Canal Walk shopping center and my family and I would always join the Saturday journey to the mall when she needed to work.

 

It's fitting to use this name as she may not have taught me the trade but was definitely an inspiration behind my interest in sewing. She would always say, 'at least one of my grandchildren is taking after me'.
